Position Summary:

The Wabanaki Center for Healing and Recovery (WCHR) Practice Director of Cedar Road (Bangor) is responsible for directing, managing and coordinating services, staffing and operations. This is a key leadership position responsible for programmatic leadership oversight and staff support of a Freestanding Residential Detoxification Program (Level III) and medication assisted treatment (MAT) programming. This position requires compassionate service in an environment committed to learning and growth alongside a dedicated team having a positive impact on patient experience. This is full time, salaried position to include evenings and weekends. Some travel is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the detox practice, ensuring smooth functioning and optimal
    utilization of resources. This includes overseeing billing, payroll, staff performance, patient safety, and ensuring the facility is adequately staffed.
  • Supervise and manage all practice staff (excluding medical providers), including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Develop and implement effective workplace procedures and ensure policies and best practices adhere to industry standards and government regulations (including HIPAA and OSHA).
  • Manage the practice's finances, including budgeting, billing, accounts receivable, and coordinating with providers regarding insurance reimbursements. Serve as Project Director on key grants.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and staff to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure patients receive a safe and supportive environment for medically supervised withdrawal.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards, and monitor and track patient progress in treatment to ensure alignment with organizational and regulatory goals.
  • Interact with patients, address complaints and concerns, and ensure their satisfaction with the services provided.
  • Manage patient records and IT systems, monitor inventory, and organize for resupply of medications and equipment.
  • Promotes continuous improvement in methods of delivery of treatment and services to ensuring adherence to and compliance with contracts, regulations and licensing requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in business, Health Care Administration/Management, Public Health, Nursing, Behavioral Health, Social Work, or other Health Care Management related field.
  • Five (5) years of administrative experience in the management and supervision of various departments within a hospital or other health care facility.
  • Masters degree of Social Work, Nursing, or related field with licensure (LCSW, LCPC), preferred.
  • Experience working in Tribal Communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and mental health which reflects current treatment models, familiarity with Wellbriety and other 12-Step programs.
  • Able to develop strong, effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Willingness to travel with some overnights for trainings, meetings, gatherings, and events.
  • Valid State of Maine Drivers License, insurable under the Agencys automobile insurance plan.

  • Possess strong program and project management skills.
  • Must be highly organized and love creating structure and systems.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office and Teams.
  • Must be flexible with excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong team player.
  • Professional and courteous with positive attitude.
  • Must pass a criminal and other program required background checks as required by WPHW.
