Client

The Civil-Structural Engineering Inspector will work for our client, a leading civil engineering firm, established in 1999 and recently voted as one of the Top 25 Engineering firms by NJ Biz. This firm has steadily grown based on a solid reputation for providing quality service. The diverse staff includes a team of respected engineers and inspectors throughout New Jersey and New York. Efforts include some of the largest transportation projects in the New York Metropolitan area such as the Raising of the Bayonne Bridge, Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing, NJ Turnpike Widening, and Fulton Street Transit Center.

Description

Reporting to the Engineer of Construction at the World Trade Center, the Civil-Structural Engineering Inspector shall perform the duties of a Structural Engineer, inspecting building construction work including reinforced concrete, expansion joints, milling, and architectural renovations and maintenance. Work will mainly involve structural steel as well as interface with MEP disciplines. All disciplines may be impacted by environmental concerns, and all projects must be monitored for safety.

Responsibilities

• The Engineers-Inspectors will inspect all building construction work; interior and exterior.
• Schedule and conduct all site inspections as required.
• Inspection of reinforced concrete, structural steel, expansion joints, milling, architectural details.
• Interact with MEP disciplines and trades.
• Ensure that construction is performed in a safe manner and completed on schedule.
• Review and evaluate potential items of extra work.
• Complete daily narratives and inspection reports accurately.
• Coordinate construction work with facility police.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a NICET Level III will qualify.
• MINIMUM of three or more years of experience in construction management and inspection.
• Familiar with construction documents.
• Familiar with all applicable specifications and codes.
• OSHA 40-hour certification required.
• Confined Space certification required.
• NYC Local Law 52 scaffold certification required.
• Familiarity with NYC building codes.
• Valid driver’s license or other government ID required.
• Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  
  

Education:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a NICET Level III will qualify.
