Mentra is building AugmentOS, the open source operating system for smart glasses. Smart glasses hardware has finally reached consumer-ready quality, but the software ecosystem is missing. AugmentOS fills this gap as the app store and SDK for smart glasses. We’re building the OS to power the next 8 billion personal computers and upgrade human intelligence.

We’ve raised from the founder of Android, founder of YouTube, Paul Graham, YC, and others. Our founding team brings deep expertise in smart glasses technology, with 6+ years of experience, 6 months in Shenzhen manufacturing, and roles at MIT Media Lab and Steve Mann's lab (the inventor of smart glasses + smart watch).

We’re building the world’s best smart glasses, and devs can build apps for them. That’s possible because of the iOS and Android client that connect the smart glasses to the apps in the cloud. You will be critical to helping us build out and harden the iOS and Android client apps that power AugmentOS.

AugmentOS is a cloud-based operating system for smart glasses. We have a mobile app that functions as an intermediary between the cloud and smart glasses, which heavily relies on low-level BLE code to interface with the glasses. For this, we need someone who’s a master in native iOS development, and who’s at least comfortable with React Native and native Android development.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

• Owning and maintaining our mobile app client (on iOS, Android) - building new features, fixing bugs, and optimizing for battery life
• Monitoring our Discord for user feedback, noting issues, and proactively fixing them when possible
• Writing, maintaining, and debugging the native iOS and Android BLE stack
• Working with React Native for UI changes
• Occasionally making updates to the Typescript backend
• Working with a small, incredibly cracked, and growing team of people building the future of smart glasses

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of professional iOS experience + Android
• Strong with Swift and Obj-C and Java
• Solid understanding of with CoreBluetooth and Android BLE
• Loves smart glasses, building, and having fun
