Quality Manager (Metals)

Location: East Chicago, Indiana, 46312

Schedule: Monday-Friday - 8 AM - 5 PM

Pay rate: $85-$90K plus bonus

Duties:

• Serve as the Management Representative for the organization's Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025), facilitating certification compliance and ongoing maintenance.
• Oversee and implement Quality Assurance and Control practices to ensure compliance with standards for finished products.
• Lead investigations into customer claims and, when applicable, implement corrective actions through the organization’s ISO/IATF processes.
• Develop and conduct quality-related training for employees, including course creation, instruction, and maintenance of training records in support of the Quality Management System.
• Stay up to date on new developments and requirements related to international ISO/IATF quality standards.
• Facilitate the development and monitoring of plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational goals.
• Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly reports and presentations to the leadership team.
• Provide technical support during new product definition and development to support manufacturing operations.
• Determine monthly HFI (Hold for Inspection) valuations and claims reserve requirements; submit reports to Accounting and manage the timely disposition of all nonconforming materials through claims or HFI processes.
• Support the quoting process by offering technical insight, including material recommendations, process capabilities, and operating parameters.
• Lead the creation and upkeep of APQP documentation, including FMEAs and Control Plans.
• Maintain cross-functional communication when complaint trends are identified, ensuring timely issue resolution and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience implementing and managing quality management systems in a manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and IATF 16949 standards.
• Proven leadership and management abilities, including experience supervising teams of 10 or more employees.
• In-depth knowledge of quality and production processes and how they integrate with cross-functional departments such as Purchasing, Customer Service, Inventory Control, Quality Control, Product Development, Marketing, and Shipping/Receiving.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with customers at both technical and sales levels.
• Strong organizational, communication, and program management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple initiatives.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.
